The Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex is home to many French, Francophones and Francophiles. The game Pétanque (peh-taunk) or Boule (bool) is a strong part of the French culture and is played throughout the world and DFW is no exception. The Dallas Pétanque Club has been in action for several years now and joined the US Pétanque Féderation (FPUSA) back in 2010. Our club is just one of many clubs throughout the USA and we look to keep growing and bringing in new members and players of all ages and skill levels. For more information about our club and how you can join in on the fun feel free to contact our club president.
In May 2011, the City of Farmers Branch Park and Recreation built a large Petanque court with lights and benches under the tree shade. Having for the first time a devoted place to play, the Dallas Petanque Club was founded with the Federation of Petanque of USA in September 2011 with 12 members. Today in 2017 the club has grown to 20 members with more people showing interest in playing. Several members compete in tournaments nation wide.
We are discovering new locations to play. Lee Park, near Turtle Creek in Dallas has recently incorporated lawn games including pétanque. Check them out. We are in the process of scheduling dates to play at Lee Park.
